IU13 is pleased to announce our Personalized Learning Academy (PLA) Kick-Off coming up on June 13, 2018. Our vision for the PLA is to support districts in their customizable, on-going journey toward personalized learning. Because there are so many different definitions and understandings of Personalized Learning, we have adopted iNACOL's official research designed definition of PL -
“Tailoring learning for each student’s strengths, needs and interests–including enabling student voice and choice in what, how, when and where they learn–to provide flexibility and supports to ensure mastery of the highest standards possible.”
We have been on this journey for a number of years learning that implementing different forms of blended learning particularly the station rotation model has been a stepping stone on the journey toward personalization. We have partnered with several national organizations over the years as we collaborated on evidence based practices for Personalized Learning environments. Our kick-off highlights two of those national organizations including CEO, Beth Rabbit from The Learning Accelerator and MCL National Alliance partner/author, Bea McGarvey. Beth will provide an overview of the trends of Personalized Learning across the United States as well as provide the research based 7 critical decisions leaders make in order to scale innovation. Bea will then turn our focus on shifting the mindset in creating the ideal learning experience. Upon conclusion, IU13 will present the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 line-up of services and workshops available for those districts who join the IU13 Personalized Learning Academy.
