May the 4th Be with You!

 

From a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Day is coming! May the 4th Be With You (May 4) is a fun opportunity for students to do STEM activities that fit with the movie series.

Science Buddies (www.sciencebuddies.orgStar Wars collection is full of creative science tie-ins. This pop culture STEM resource contains more than 20 movie-themed STEM activities, including:

·     Mini LED lightsabers

·     Lightsaber cards with paper circuits

·     Starfleet paper airplanes and paper airplane launchers

·     Balancing the forces with homemade mobiles

·     Landspeeder-inspired balloon hovercraft

·     Popsicle stick drones

·     Robot hand design

·     Jabba the Hutt-inspired slime

·     Using a Van de Graaff generator to model an ion thruster

Why let the awesome lessons you just used or observed go to waste? For this year's contest, we are asking you to share lesson photos, and the lesson you used along with any lesson support materials with us using this Google Form!

Those who share a photo along with the lesson plan will be entered in our monthly drawing for a chance to win a lesson with Giovanna. Together you will plan a lesson for your students focusing on the content of your choice.
