CS Education WEek December 6th-12th

Posted by Lori Blantz on Nov 22, 2021 7:30:00 AM

CS (Computer Science) Education Week is approaching- December 6-12. You can host an Hour of Code lesson (Hour of Code) or engage in CSEdWeek activities (CSEducationWeek.org). Please join our STEMatIU13 Facebook page  or Twitter Page as we will start highlighting some activities that might inspire and help your planning.

Computer Science is EVERYWHERE! Here is a CS EdWeek lesson that encourages collaboration and shows students how CS connects to their world and impacts many areas such as agriculture, medicine, safety, fashion, and art. Students will work collaboratively to explore how computer science connects to many industries and the world around them. K-5 students will focus on how CS changes everything around them, and 6-12 students will identify connections to many career industries. Click on the link to view.

Check out this short video above to learn more about Computer Science Opportunities

Learn things like:

  • “What is the Hour of Code?”
  • “How can I find some upcoming events or activities happening in CS and/or STEM?”
  • “What are some of my colleagues doing with STEM or CS in their room ?”

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Lori Blantz and/or Giovanna Chamberlain for help with STEM and Instructional Technology ecses-it@iu13.org   Here is a link to all our Instructional Software programs at the IU13 and directions on how to access them as a student or staff member.
