The Third Annual Giving Tree 3D Printing Project

We are happy to announce that this year will mark the 3rd year of the Giving Tree 3D Printing Project. We are looking for a total of 4 classes to participate.

Please reach out if you are interested in participating this year!

The Lancaster-Lebanon Education Foundation provided valuable support for computer science education in our classrooms.. Thanks to a grant received by our ECSES STEM and Technology team, we were able to purchase 3D printer filament and expand our programs.

As part of a project, our students were challenged to design holiday ornaments that would be attached to the gifts provided by the Lancaster-Lebanon Mitten Tree program, which is run by our dedicated social workers, and supported by participating IU13 employees.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s program or have any questions, please reach out to Giovanna_Chamberlain@iu13.org  for more information.

FUN FACTS:

  • Three classes participated in the opportunity in the past!
  • Jeni Neiles’s School to Work Class (Bule) (2 years in a row!)
  • Kendell Bartholomew and Diane Johnson’s School to Work Class (Lebanon)
  • Jim Snyder’s Therapeutic Emotional Support Class (LS HS) (2 years in a row!)
  • Every student was instructed on how to use a 3D modeling program!
  • Over 600 ornaments were designed and 3D printed!
  • Participants assembled gift pouches including their ornaments for families!
