Ignite Young Inventors: Join the Pennsylvania Invention Convention!

Posted by Lori Blantz on Oct 23, 2025 7:30:00 AM

Do your students love to create, problem-solve, or dream up new ideas? The Pennsylvania Invention Convention (PA IC) is the perfect opportunity for them to turn their curiosity into innovation!

This statewide competition invites K–12 students to find a real-world problem, design an inventive solution, build a prototype, and share their idea with others. It’s hands-on, creative, and a great fit for STEM or project-based learning classrooms.

Why It’s Worth Joining

  • Builds creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking

  • Open to all Pennsylvania students — public, private, charter, or homeschool

  • Students can advance from regional to state, and even national levels

Key Dates for 2025–26

📅 October 31: Intent to Participate due
📅 November 30: Virtual submission materials due
📅 December 19: Regional competitions completed
📅 February 4, 2026: State event in Hershey (during the PA Educational Technology Expo & Conference)

How It Works

Students (individually or in teams) will:

  1. Identify a problem that matters to them

  2. Keep an Invention Log to document their thinking

  3. Build and test a prototype

  4. Share their invention — virtually or in person

Top projects move on to the State Convention, and some may even earn a spot at the National Invention Convention!
