Generation Genius has K-5 ELA lessons

Posted by Giovanna Chamberlain on Feb 17, 2026 7:30:00 AM

New! ELA Content on Generation Genius  (K-5)

Learn more about Generation Genius ELA!

Why the change?

The new ELA content is powered by Newsela’s literacy expertise, combining their research-backed approach to reading with the entertaining, "Hollywood-style" production value that Dr. Jeff is known for. The goal is to build student knowledge and empathy through "unforgettable stories" rather than just static text.

What resources are included in the new ELA feature?

  • Engaging Video Lessons: New videos featuring familiar characters (like Lex and Sam) that use storytelling and "purposeful repetition" to teach foundational literacy.
  • Comprehensive Literacy Topics: Lessons cover a wide range of skills, including:
    • Phonemic awareness and parts of speech.
    • Identifying main ideas and details.
    • Understanding context clues, themes, and central messages.
  • Supporting Resources: Each video is bundled with worksheets, answer keys, and teacher guides, ready for the classroom in about 30 seconds.
