Posted by Lori Blantz on Feb 8, 2021 7:45:00 AM

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your ECSES IT and STEM coaches via email at esces-it@iu13.org

We have two new tools for some of you to use in your classroom. The first tool is located in Discovery Education. It is called DE STEM Connect.  This is for grades K-8th. The second tool is BrainPop Science. This for 7th and 8th grade.. This is not located in BrainPop and a separate access link is needed.

DE STEM Connect : K-8th grade

Discovery Education is assisting teachers in providing grade level STEM lessons. We have this tool guaranteed for 2 years. There will be no additional cost for the next two years. After that Ken Zimmerman will be working with our department to determine if we should purchase this add-on.  Please watch this video I created to walk you through the lessons as a teacher and student. Giovanna and I are looking  for staff to try out a Unit before the end of the year and work with us on determining the benefits for our students. If you are interested we will work with you in your class or virtually to help you teach the Unit.

BrainPop Science 7th and 8th Grade (use this link https://science.brainpop.com/ )

Here is the link to a short video  of me explaining and showing the format of the lessons. If you have any questions please reach out to me. I would love to hear from you on what you think of this new BrainPop add-on.

Look on the right hand side of this Blog post for our next prize give-a-way. Could it be you? SECs or Program Designee will be nominating staff or classes each month and the winner or winners will be randomly selected using Wheel of Names featured in last week’s Blog. Good Luck!

Topics: Discovery Education, BrainPop

Blog Contest :

Why let the awesome lessons you just used or observed go to waste? For this year's contest, we are asking you to share lesson photos, and the lesson you used along with any lesson support materials with us using this Google Form!

Those who share a photo along with the lesson plan will be entered in our monthly drawing for a chance to win a lesson with Giovanna. Together you will plan a lesson for your students focusing on the content of your choice.

“THANK YOU!” for all you do for our students at IU13.👍
