Celebrating STEM in our IU and district Classrooms...

Posted by Lori Blantz on May 27, 2021 7:15:00 AM

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your ECSES IT and STEM coaches via email at esces-it@iu13.org

Remember we have summer training on several Instructional Technology Tools and Computer Science/Coding Tools that are available for IU13 staff.

Check out our list of summer training.

This year has been extremely tough on many teachers and staff. Eighteen of you chose to join Giovanna in our newly created LIVE STEM lessons that we provided twice a month, some of you joined us in participating in STEM competitions that were offered throughout the year, and finally, many of you engaged your students in STEM lessons throughout the year. STEM has been an initiative that I have been supporting the last three years at IU13. STEM, which stands for the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, is an avenue of teaching students how to solve and make a difference in our world with real life challenges.  Today I would like to celebrate Lourdes Bard (MDS teacher at South Lebanon Elementary in CLSD), Janice Beitzel (DDH teacher at Warwick High School in WSD), and Andrea Fellows (teacher at Fairland School at IU13)  for stepping out of that comfort zone of our traditional teaching styles and sharing with Lauren Beal and her team at IU13, what they have been doing around STEM. Thank you all for sharing your celebrations with Lauren Beal as she created a fantastic video to "Celebrate Teachers throughout IU13" on their accomplishments with STEM this year. I truly believe and support STEM is for ALL students and I value that this is being supported at the IU13 by our leadership team.  Thank you again for sharing your successes this year with Lauren as she created this fantastic video of district and IU13 teachers and how they implemented STEM in their instruction.

Blog Contest :

Why let the awesome lessons you just used or observed go to waste? For this year's contest, we are asking you to share lesson photos, and the lesson you used along with any lesson support materials with us using this Google Form!

Those who share a photo along with the lesson plan will be entered in our monthly drawing for a chance to win a lesson with Giovanna. Together you will plan a lesson for your students focusing on the content of your choice.

“THANK YOU!” for all you do for our students at IU13.👍
