The Governor’s STEM Competition!
Here is a brief history of the IU13’s Governor’s STEM Competition participation:
2019-2020
- Andrea Fellows and her center-based Emotional Support Class from Fairland entered the Governor’s STEM Competition making them the first Special Education class to ever participate in the statewide competition! Click here to learn more about their project called the Showerability Helper.
2020-2021-
- Jim Snyder and his IU13 Emotional Support Classroom at Lampeter Strasburg HS participated in the Governor’s STEM Logo Competition. Their logos were selected and included on participant t-shirts, brochures, and other competition marketing materials. Check out the Google Slide on class logos created.
- Andrea Fellows and her IU13 center-based Emotional Support Class at Fairland entered the Governor’s STEM competition for the second year in a row and earned an honorable mention in the statewide competition. Click here to watch a creative infomercial introducing the project to the judges.
- Janice Beitzel and her IU13 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Class at Warwick High School entered the competition for the first time and earned the position of 3rd runner-up in the statewide competition. Click here to learn more about their project called the Communication Desk.

2022-2023 Governor’s STEM Competition
Important details:
- Presentations will be submitted in video form
- Students in grades 9-12 may participate
- The deadline to register is November 6th, 2022
- Video submissions are due February 6th, 2023
- Judging will take place February 13th-24th, 2023
- Regional IU Direct Point of Contact supports teams along with Andrea Fellows, IU13 STEM Teacher and Giovanna Chamberlain, IU13 Consultant for STEM and IT
- Registration form: September 6th-November 6th

Important Details:
- Submissions due December 15th, 2022
- Students in grades 9-12 may participate
- Logo Information and Project Submission Form
