Southern York County School District is seeking highly qualified candidates
to serve as Superintendent of Schools.

The Southern York County School District is located in South Central Pennsylvania along the Maryland border comprising approximately 61 square miles. The District provides a high-quality academic program in Grades K-12 for approximately 3,000 public school students. Elementary education (K-6) is offered in Friendship, Southern, and Shrewsbury Elementary Schools; intermediate education (7-8) is offered at Southern Middle School; and high school education (9-12) is offered at Susquehannock High School.

The District serves residents of Shrewsbury Township, Codorus Township, Shrewsbury Borough, New Freedom Borough, Glen Rock Borough, and Railroad Borough, a geographic area with a population of approximately 20,000.

Superintendent Qualities and Qualifications

Southern York County School District is seeking a visionary and innovative leader, who will continuously evaluate and update the educational and extracurricular programs to ensure the continued success of our students and the District as a whole. The candidate must also be an effective steward of District resources and a skilled communicator who utilizes a hands-on approach in addition to high-level problem-solving skills to achieve practical solutions. The candidate will be skilled in hiring and retaining the best teachers and staff available.

Timeline & Process

The successful candidate is anticipated to begin on or about July 1, 2022.

Desired experiences include: Knowledge of educational research, trends, and innovation; school district fiscal operations and budgeting; community engagement and involvement; minimum of 5-7 years successful, visionary, top-level leadership within an educational setting; Doctorate degree preferred.

Requirements: PA letter of eligibility; university transcripts; all required clearances, current Act 24; three (3) current letters of recommendation; application, cover letter, and resume.
