The Refugee Center and Community School is participating in this year’s Extraordinary Give! This year, we are excited to partner with the Lancaster-Lebanon Education Foundation and the Lancaster Sweet Shoppe. We have a special event planned at the Lancaster Sweet Shoppe to take place on November 16, 2018. Stay tuned for additional details. For now, please save the date!
Citizenship Grant Awarded: IU13 Community Education is thrilled to announce that we received a two-year, $250,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security. Funds from this grant will be used for IU13 to offer citizenship courses and for Church World Service to provide naturalization application services throughout Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.
One of our goals at the Refugee Center is to have our clients come into our space and know where they can find us whenever they have needs. Most of our clients have a hard time locating us because they are new to town and don't know their way around. However, on September 17th, we are glad to report that four Swahili speaking families came to our temporary location at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and participated in our Welcoming Schools Orientation. It went very well! Those who needed school uniforms and shoes received them from our center.
