Clearances
Up-to-date clearances are required for all ESY staff members.
- Are you in compliance? If you are a returning ESY staff member, email clearances@iu13.org to find out the expiration dates of your clearances.
- Do you have updated clearances you need to submit to Human Resources? Clearances submitted must have been completed within the past year; otherwise, you will have to have them updated prior to the start of the ESY Program. Email them to hr@iu13.org or fax to 717-606-1996 or drop them off in Human Resources (IU13 Lancaster Building - 1020 New Holland Avenue, Lancaster).
- Do you need to update your clearances? Click on the red button to complete the process. Find out your clearance deadlines by emailing clearances@iu13.org for assistance.
On July 1, 2015, the Pennsylvania legislature passed Act 15, which amends the Child Protective Services Law and clarifies some changes made through Act 153. The most significant change to the Child Protective Services Law is that employees of school districts must renew their clearances every 60 months (five years), not every 36 months (three years).
This requirement means that any current, new or returning staff must complete all three clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal History Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance) every 60 months. If you recently renewed your clearances (within the last year), they may be acceptable and you will not need to redo them. If your clearances were completed earlier than 5 years (or 60 months ago), you will be required to obtain updated clearances.
GOOD NEWS! All three clearances have the ability to start the process electronically and no paper submissions are needed to be done.
