We landed on Mars!

Follow-up from Thursday, February 18th, Perseverance LiveStream

Yesterday, Perseverance touched down on Mars. I know yesterday’s weather did not help us with classes being virtual and some even off. Today doesn’t seem any better. I did attend yesterday’s LIVE broadcast. The Rover landed around 4pm. I had the livestream on while I was working, but stopped around the time of the landing. Very cool!  Even took a few pictures.

You can re-watch the livestream or share it with students anytime through Discovery Education’s  Explore Space with NASA channel. Remember it will prompt you to log in. Use your IU13 Google to log in to Discovery Education. If you registered you would have been sent a lot of resources as a follow up. Here they are if you did not register:

Mystery Science has a mini-lesson:  Why is Mars Red?

Boeing FUTURE U shared two lessons:

  • Mars Landing Lesson: As landing engineers in Boeing's Beyond Earth division, students are challenged with creating a landing system for the world's first crewed Mars-bound spacecraft.
  • 360 Extended Reality Video: Venture to the Boeing Mars Experiment Laboratory and investigate the Red Planet.
