A Grateful Farewell and an Exciting New Chapter for Our IU13 STEM & Instructional Technology Program

Posted by Lori Blantz on May 26, 2026 7:45:01 AM

As we continue to grow and evolve, we have both a heartfelt farewell and an exciting welcome to share.

The saying goes…Out with the old and in with the new…

It is with heartfelt thanks to an amazing team that I am hanging up my mouse, laptop and iPad to move into the world of retirement. My team of (Hillary, Melinda, Jody, Giovanna and my amazing STEM teachers - Andi, Melissa, and Jesse) has helped me shape and develop a program that truly empowers students and staff alike. With their help, our classrooms have become vibrant, hands-on learning environments where innovation, creativity, and accessibility thrive. Throughout my 21 years at IU13, and 36 total years in Special Education, I have enjoyed seeing technology come to life in our special education classrooms. From Blue Bots and Botley introducing foundational coding concepts, to LEGO kits building problem-solving skills, and Sphero robots bringing engagement to a whole new level—every tool has been thoughtfully integrated to support diverse learners. Add to that the excitement of AirToobz, Drones, 3D Printers, and a wide range of instructional technology, and it’s clear this program continues to impact our students.

Welcoming New Leadership

At the same time, I am thrilled to welcome our new Supervisor of the STEM and IT program, Andrea “Andi” Fellows. This team is confident that her leadership will continue to build on the strong foundation already in place and bring fresh ideas and opportunities for growth.

The heart of our program will remain the same. Our commitment to hands-on learning, innovation, and inclusive, technology-rich instruction is unwavering. The tools, experiences, and opportunities our students have come to love will continue to be an integral part of their learning journey.

Growing Our Team

As we look ahead, we are also excited to expand our team. We are currently seeking two passionate STEM teachers to join us:

  • One position serving Lancaster IU13 Classrooms
  • One position serving Lebanon IU13 Classrooms

If you or someone you know is enthusiastic about inspiring students through STEM education and technology, we encourage you to apply and be part of this dynamic program.

Looking Ahead

The future of our STEM and IT program is bright. With a strong foundation, a passionate team, and the continued integration of innovative tools and instructional practices, we are excited to see what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far—and welcome to the next chapter! Have an amazing summer!
