THIS MONTH AT THE
REFUGEE CENTER AND COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Leap into Language
The RSIG (Refugee School Impact Grant) Leap Into Language Summer program, which ran from July 2nd to July 27th this year, provided unique opportunities for refugee students, at the middle school level, with English learning activities and components of an active summer camp. The program was able to serve 37 students total, 27 being refugee students.
With incredible partnerships between the Lancaster- Lebanon IU13, the School District of Lancaster, Millersville University, and Eastern Mennonite Missions, the program fluently operated and offered students the opportunity to connect with others from different parts of the world, while using language and their personal gifts to grow in their pursuit of learning.
Thank you to all of the families and students for a great summer program this year. We wish everyone a wonderful rest of the summer, and look forward to seeing you this fall!
Millersville ESL Institute
This month, we had a chance to spend time on Millersville campus with the School District of Lancaster to share with their Summer ESL Institute. We talked about our district partnerships, community schools, Reynolds Middle School, and cultural navigation. Thank you for welcoming us, and allowing us to share what we do!
